Last on our taste list is Black Oak’s Beat the Heat, a seasonal beer that is only offered in the summer. Fortunately, I was able to get my hands on this beer in the off-season as I have a couple of awesome friends who donated some of their stockpiled beer to support my blog [you know who you are, thank you! :)].

Style: Belgian Wheat
ABV: 4.5%
If I can’t buy it now, when can I buy it and where??
Like I mentioned, this is a seasonal beer, meaning they only offer it during certain seasons of the year. This is a summer beer, so it is likely that it will be available for purchase before the long weekend in May, just in time for patio season!! Because it is off-season, I’m not 100% sure that the Beer Store will stock this drink, but the LCBO still has it on their website, so it’s highly likely it will be available through them.

What is this beer expected to taste like?
The brewer combines orange zest, Saaz hops, and a touch of spice, and describe the drink as highly refreshing.
What did it actually taste like?
The orange zest and smooth finish actually reminded me of a Shocktop, which happens to be one of my favourite beers, so I enjoyed this drink very much. I found that although it was similar to Shocktop, it had a more spicy undertone, making it a lot more interesting.
Would you buy it again?
I will definitely seek this bad boy out when I go to patios this summer. As I mentioned in my previous posts, Shocktop is my top patio beer, but Beat the Heat might take the place of my new fave. We shall see when patio season comes.. which hopefully is sooner than later.
Thanks for your patience, and thanks for checking out my blog regularly. I know I haven’t posted in awhile, but life has been CRAZY. Check back on my blog soon to see how my recent visit to Amsterdam Barrel House went!
